没有“万”和“亿”：英语按千分组
中文每四位一组（万、亿），英语每三位一组，数字里的逗号就是分组的位置：thousand（千）、million（百万）、billion（十亿）。

换算的窍门：先按英语的习惯每三位加一个逗号，再从左往右读，每个逗号处说出 thousand、million 或 billion。3,500,000 读作 three million five hundred thousand（三百五十万）。
thirteen 和 thirty：重音不同
13到19以 -teen 结尾，20到90的整十以 -ty 结尾，听起来很像。区别在重音：
- thirteen /ˌθɝˈtin/ 重音在后，teen 读得长而清楚。
- thirty /ˈθɝti/ 重音在前，ty 读得短而轻。
说价格和时间时，这个区别很重要。没听清时可以问：Did you say fifteen or fifty?（你说的是十五还是五十？）
数字怎么读
- hundred、thousand、million 不加 s： 300 是 three hundred，不是 three hundreds。
- 百位后面常加 and（英式和很多美国人都这么说）： 125 读作 one hundred (and) twenty-five。两种都对。
- 21到99之间用连字符： twenty-one、forty-five。
- 0 的读法： 一般读 zero；念电话号码时，很多人读 oh。
- 电话号码一位一位读： 555-0123 读作 five five five, oh one two three。
序数词：第一、第二、第三
大多数序数词在后面加 -th：fourth、sixth、tenth。前三个不规则：first（1st）、second（2nd）、third（3rd）。之后 21st、22nd、23rd 也跟着变。
序数词用于日期、楼层和排名：May 1st（5月1日）、the third floor（三楼）、She came first.（她得了第一）。
价格、年份和小数
- 价格： $4.99 读作 four ninety-nine 或 four dollars and ninety-nine cents。
- 年份： 一般两位两位读：1998 读 nineteen ninety-eight。2000年到2009年多读 two thousand (and) five；2010年以后两种都常见：twenty twenty-six 或 two thousand twenty-six。
- 小数： 3.5 读作 three point five。
- 百分比： 20% 读作 twenty percent。
常见错误
- 把“一万”说成 one thousand。 万 = ten thousand。
- 把“一亿”说成 one billion。 亿 = one hundred million，billion 是十亿。
- 写成 two hundreds、three thousands。 前面有具体数字时不加 s。
- fourty。 四十拼作 forty，没有 u。
