沒有「萬」和「億」：英文按千分組
中文每四位一組（萬、億），英文每三位一組，數字裡的逗號就是分組的位置：thousand（千）、million（百萬）、billion（十億）。

換算的竅門：先按英文的習慣每三位加一個逗號，再從左往右讀，每個逗號處說出 thousand、million 或 billion。3,500,000 讀作 three million five hundred thousand（三百五十萬）。
thirteen 和 thirty：重音不同
13到19以 -teen 結尾，20到90的整十以 -ty 結尾，聽起來很像。區別在重音：
- thirteen /ˌθɝˈtin/ 重音在後，teen 讀得長而清楚。
- thirty /ˈθɝti/ 重音在前，ty 讀得短而輕。
說價格和時間時，這個區別很重要。沒聽清時可以問：Did you say fifteen or fifty?（你說的是十五還是五十？）
數字怎麼讀
- hundred、thousand、million 不加 s： 300 是 three hundred，不是 three hundreds。
- 百位後面常加 and（英式和很多美國人都這麼說）： 125 讀作 one hundred (and) twenty-five。兩種都對。
- 21到99之間用連字元： twenty-one、forty-five。
- 0 的讀法： 一般讀 zero；唸電話號碼時，很多人讀 oh。
- 電話號碼一位一位讀： 555-0123 讀作 five five five, oh one two three。
序數詞：第一、第二、第三
大多數序數詞在後面加 -th：fourth、sixth、tenth。前三個不規則：first（1st）、second（2nd）、third（3rd）。之後 21st、22nd、23rd 也跟著變。
序數詞用於日期、樓層和排名：May 1st（5月1日）、the third floor（三樓）、She came first.（她得了第一）。
價格、年份和小數
- 價格： $4.99 讀作 four ninety-nine 或 four dollars and ninety-nine cents。
- 年份： 一般兩位兩位讀：1998 讀 nineteen ninety-eight。2000年到2009年多讀 two thousand (and) five；2010年以後兩種都常見：twenty twenty-six 或 two thousand twenty-six。
- 小數： 3.5 讀作 three point five。
- 百分比： 20% 讀作 twenty percent。
常見錯誤
- 把「一萬」說成 one thousand。 萬 = ten thousand。
- 把「一億」說成 one billion。 億 = one hundred million，billion 是十億。
- 寫成 two hundreds、three thousands。 前面有具體數字時不加 s。
- fourty。 四十拼作 forty，沒有 u。
