Complete list, new entries or cumulative vocabulary?
Choose the complete HSK 1–9 file if you want the whole 11,000-entry 2025 HSK syllabus in one spreadsheet, Anki import or JSON file. To print the complete vocabulary, download all seven per-band PDFs.
Choose new entries for a level if you already have the lower levels and want only the words added at your next level. Each per-band PDF uses this scope too. The 2025 syllabus assigns 5,600 advanced entries to the combined HSK 7–9 band, without separate lists for those three levels.
Choose the cumulative file through your target level if you want one file containing that level and everything below it. Under the 2025 syllabus, HSK level 4 adds 1,000 entries, bringing the cumulative vocabulary through level 4 to 2,000 entries. Cumulative CSV, Anki and JSON files are available through levels 2–6, as well as the complete HSK 1–9 set.
Choose one scope for an initial Anki import. The complete, per-level and cumulative files overlap; importing more than one can add duplicate notes or update existing ones, depending on your import settings.
Which format should you choose?
| Format | Best for | Meanings |
|---|---|---|
| Printing and reading on paper; one file per level band | English | |
| CSV | Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or your own flashcard tool | English, plus your language on translated pages where available |
| Anki | Spaced-repetition review in Anki | English, plus your language on translated pages where available |
| JSON | Developers and your own study tools | English |
The HSK vocabulary downloads include simplified characters, traditional forms, and pinyin. The PDFs have English meanings on every version of this page. On a translated page, the CSV and Anki files add the meaning in that page’s language above the English, where a translation exists for the whole set.
Open the CSV with UTF-8 encoding if your spreadsheet app asks, so the Chinese characters display correctly. None of the files include audio.
How do you import the Anki file?
The Anki download is a text file that Anki imports, not a packaged .apkg deck. It needs Anki 2.1.55 or later on a computer:
- Download the Anki file for the complete list, one level band or the cumulative scope you want.
- In Anki, choose File → Import and select the file.
- Check the preview and select a Basic note type and your destination deck. The file supplies suggested names and tags; confirm the fields map to Front and Back.
- For a first import into an empty deck, choose the option to import matching first fields as new notes. Some entries share the same Chinese spelling, such as 长 (cháng and zhǎng), and need separate cards. Then click Import.
Anki normally uses the first field to find matching notes and updates existing ones. Reimporting with the new-note option can create duplicates, while updating can merge distinct entries with the same spelling; inspect the preview before importing another file. See Anki’s text-file import instructions.
The cards put simplified characters on the front and pinyin, meaning, and any different traditional form on the back. To study on your phone, sync the deck to AnkiWeb from the computer and download it in the Anki app on your phone.

Where are the official HSK 3.0 syllabus, sample papers and audio?
The official 2025 HSK exam syllabus PDF sets out the vocabulary and exam requirements. It is a different document from our vocabulary-only PDFs.
Chinese Testing International (CTI), which runs the HSK, publishes the HSK 3.0 sample papers on its syllabus page under Sample Questions. It is one zip file of about 400 MB with a sample paper, an answer key, and the listening audio for every level, plus speaking sample papers with audio for HSK 3 to 6. The same page links to Try HSK 3.0, an online demo of the exam.
These are CTI’s materials for the new HSK 3.0 exam. If your sitting still uses HSK 2.0, use that version’s papers instead. Confirm the exam version with your test center; the HSK 3.0 exam guide explains the transition and registration.
Looking for an HSK 3.0 textbook or workbook PDF?
Our files are vocabulary lists: they tell you which words the exam expects. A textbook teaches those words through lessons, dialogues, grammar notes, and exercises, usually with its own audio.
For textbooks and workbooks, check the publisher, a bookshop or a library. The Confucius Institute Barcelona’s HSK 3.0 FAQ points learners to CTI’s online shop for the 新HSK教程 (New HSK Course) series. Before choosing a book, check both its level and its syllabus version: older HSK 2.0 textbooks follow different word lists.
Where do the words come from?
The words and pinyin follow the official 2025 HSK syllabus entry for entry. The traditional forms and English meanings are adapted from the CC-CEDICT dictionary and shared under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license; the PDF and JSON files credit both sources.
If you have seen a total of 11,092 words, that comes from the 2021 proficiency standard. These downloads use the later 2025 exam syllabus with 11,000 entries. See HSK 2.0 vs HSK 3.0 for the differences between those documents and the old exam.
To explore the same entries online, open the HSK 3.0 Vocabulary List. Search across all nine levels, or choose a level band and hide the meanings to test your recall. For the rest of the new exam resources, visit the HSK 3.0 hub.
